We all know the toll that sun, salt, and styling can take on our hair, so
it's important to replenish moisture on a weekly basis to keep it healthy
I use this oil blend as an overnight treatment and wash it out the next morning.
Add these natural oils to your shopping list and your locks will thank you!
OLIVE OIL: loaded with antioxidants, olive oil is key for a healthy scalp.
It actually stops the production of a hormone called DTH that is associated with hair loss.
Olive oil also stimulates circulation in the scalp, which can contribute to increased hair growth.
SWEET ALMOND OIL: Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can cause hair loss and weak, thin hair. That's why it's so important to get proper nutrition both internally and by applying nutrient rich products topically. Zinc, magnesium, and calcium are crucial for healthy hair, and they are all found in abundance in almond oil.
JOJOBA OIL: rich in vitamins E, B, and important minerals like copper, zinc, and silicon, this acts as a hair conditioner by moisturizing the follicles and repairing damage from heat and styling.
CASTOR OIL: an age old beauty treatment high in vitamin E, minerals, protein, and Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids, the antioxidants in castor oil support the keratin in hair and help keep it strong and smooth.
ROSEMARY ESSENTIAL OIL: this is a stimulating oil and is included here for it's circulation boosting properties. When massaged into the scalp it increases blood flow, bringing nourishment to the hair follicles which in turn increases and speeds up hair growth.
To make your conditioning oil, combine in a bowl:
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tbsp sweet almond oil
2 tbsp jojoba oil
1 tbsp castor oil
16 drops rosemary essential oil
Mix your oils together and store in an airtight jar or bottle.
To use: Apply to dry hair and work thoroughly from roots to ends. While it seems natural to focus on the ends, spend a few minutes to really work the oil into the scalp with a scalp massage to get all the benefits mentioned above. I like to do this treatment overnight on already dirty hair since I know I'll be shampooing the next day anyway. After the oil is evenly distributed, pull your hair into a bun, and, if sleeping with it in, use a pillowcase that you don't care about it since your hair will be oily. In the morning, shampoo thoroughly, condition, and enjoy your happily nourished hair!
