Kōlea | noun | ko·lea | \kōˈlāə\
Our NEW Kōlea color is named after Papakōlea beach which is located in the Kaʻū district of the island of Hawaiʻi. What makes Papakōlea Beach so unique is its green sand! Papakōlea is only one of four green sand beaches in the entire world! This unique mineral infused beach gets its distinctive coloring from a nature specific mineral called, 0livine, which leaves the sand a charcoal clay color when wet.
So now that you have a clearer understanding of the product name history, its time to grasp a better understanding of the color! Some photos and filters make the color appear to be a bit darker, almost black; however, the color can best be described as a charcoal brown/gray. The hue is a timeless neutral that looks beautiful on every skin tone. It looks great by itself for a mature, neutral look, or paired with another solid color or print to complete a beachy look without using a dramatic black. We personally love Kōlea paired with Hibiscus Honey, Moana, and Palm!
